JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida Baseball secured a win in Game 1 of its home weekend series against Stetson, 3-1, at Harmon Stadium on Friday.

With the victory, North Florida remains in first place in the ASUN Conference Graphite Division. North Florida's 13-3 start to ASUN play marks its best start to conference action in program history.

Redshirt junior utility player Boone Hosey turned in North Florida's only multi-hit outing against Stetson with a 2-4 performance.

Redshirt junior left-handed pitcher Dakota Stone was dominant in his Friday night starter role. Stone dealt a season-high 7.0 innings and tallied seven strikeouts while allowing just one run, one walk and four hits.

Senior right-handed pitcher Brandon Adams entered in relief of Stone in the top of the eighth inning and shut down the Hatters. Adams dealt 2.0 shutout frames without giving up a walk and notched four strikeouts while allowing just one hit.

Adams tallied a pair of clutch strikeouts to close out both the eighth and ninth innings en route to a win for himself and the Ospreys.

Redshirt sophomore outfielder Carter White opened the scoring for North Florida in the bottom of the first inning with an RBI double down the right-field line to give the Ospreys a 1-0 lead.

Stetson tied the game, 1-1, in the top of the third frame.

Neither team plated a run from the fourth inning to the seventh. However, North Florida's clutch two-run bottom of the eighth frame proved to be the difference.

Redshirt freshman outfielder Sean Benjamin delivered a clutch go-ahead RBI double to left field that put the Ospreys ahead, 2-1.

Freshman infielder Drew Buchanan helped add an insurance run in the eighth inning with a base hit to shortstop that gave North Florida a 3-1 advantage. Buchanan's base hit brought the score to its eventual final margin.
