
Baseball Secures Midweek Win Over Florida A&M, 11-2

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida Baseball improved to 21-15 this season with a midweek win over Florida A&M, 11-2, at Harmon Stadium on Tuesday.
The win was propelled by two three-run innings in the fifth and eighth frames. Eight Ospreys in the starting lineup recorded hits led by redshirt sophomore outfielder Carter White and junior outfielder Gialdri Gomez who each turned in multi-hit outings.
White led the way offensively against Florida A&M and went 3-5 with one home run, six RBI and two runs. White's solo home run in the bottom of the seventh inning marked his third homer over North Florida's last four home games. He brought his home-run total to eight this season which ranks second on the team.
Gomez went 2-4 with two runs and one RBI against the Rattlers. Gomez improved his hit streak to eight games and has now reached base safely in 18-straight games.
Florida A&M opened the scoring with two runs in the top of the first inning.
White tied the game in the bottom of the third frame with a two-RBI single to center field.
Freshman infielder Drew Buchanan belted a go-ahead solo home run in the bottom of the fourth inning to give the Ospreys a 3-2 lead. It marked Buchanan's second home run of the season.
White put North Florida ahead in the bottom of the fifth inning, 4-2, with a fielder's choice.Â
Toberman gave North Florida a 5-2 advantage with an RBI double off the wall in the bottom of the fifth frame.Â
Freshman catcher Beau Rurey capped off UNF's three-run fifth inning with an RBI on a fielder's choice, allowing the Ospreys to command a 6-2 edge.
Gomez added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth inning with an RBI single to right-center field that put North Florida ahead, 7-2.
White crushed his eighth home run of the season in the bottom of the seventh frame to give the Ospreys a six-run advantage. White notched his fifth and sixth RBI of the game in the bottom of the eighth inning with a base hit through the right side to help give UNF a 10-2 lead.
Rurey plated North Florida's final run and notched his second RBI of the game with a bases-loaded walk, bringing the score to its eventual final margin.
