JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Infielder Bella Cimino and pitcher Macie Hunolt brought in ASUN Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week honors respectively through opening weekend, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
This is the first time in over a decade that North Florida has swept both the Player and Pitcher of the Week awards on opening weekend. This comes 11 years after former Ospreys Stacy McClelland and Kayla Goff garnered weekly honors from the conference to open the 2015 season.
Coming off a season where UNF took home six ASUN Pitcher of the Week awards between four different pitchers, Hunolt returns with her second-career distinction to start her sophomore campaign. Cimino transfers in from FAU as a junior, where she was awarded Second Team All-AAC in 2025, to help the Ospreys secure their seventh ASUN Player of the Week selection in the Jeff Conrad era.
Cimino recorded seven hits her first six starts with a .500 batting average, four RBI and three runs scored against Auburn and in the River City Leadoff. She ended her weekend with three straight games with multiple hits, as well as back-to-back games with multiple RBI.
"Bella [Cimino] got off to a great start at the plate," said Head Softball Coach Jeff Conrad. "We knew recruiting her she would become an immediate offensive presence in the middle of our lineup."
Hunolt was the Ospreys' ace this weekend with a 2-0 record on top of her five strikeouts and eight scoreless innings. She threw a complete-game shutout against UMass in her first appearance of the year, followed with another scoreless start from the sophomore against Colgate.
"Macie [Hunolt] had a great start to her '26 campaign in the circle," Conrad continued. "We expect her to make a big jump going into her sophomore season as her confidence continues to grow."
Cimino and Hunolt look to keep the momentum going with a midweek showdown against Marshall on Wednesday, Feb. 11, at UNF Softball Complex.
