RIO GRANDE, P.R. - North Florida men's golf had three players shoot under par in the opening round of the Puerto Rico Classic to continue its fall season on Monday afternoon.

Filippo Serra and Luke Balaskiewicz combined for eight birdies to each reach 2-under 70 to start their week in the Caribbean. Danny Erickson followed right behind with a 1-under 71 score that featured a pair of birdies and 15 pars.

ROUND REFLECTIONS

Serra played his best golf at the turn earning three birdies and an eagle over a span of six holes to reach 2-under 70 on the day.
The redshirt junior leads the field in average score on par-five holes at 5-under (3.75).
He also was one of 13 players in the tournament to record an eagle in the first round.
Balaskiewicz had a hot start to the front nine as well with three birdies over a span of four holes to match Serra's 2-under 70 mark.
Erickson led all Ospreys in the opening round with a top-three mark in pars with 15 total to get to his 1-under 71 score.
Jean-Philippe Parr started and ended his day with a birdie to sit at even-par 72 through round one.
His average score on par-three holes reached the top 10 in the tournament at 1-under (2.75).
Parr joined Serra and Balaskiewicz as the UNF leaders in birdies with each of them notching four total.
Laurens Schulze-Doering rounded out the Osprey starters with a 4-over 76 start to his week in Puerto Rico.
The Ospreys totaled a combined 16 birdies, 56 pars and an eagle from their starting lineup.
UNF tied for fifth in average score on par-five holes at 9-under (4.55) and was one of eight teams to feature a player that scored an eagle in the first round.
