JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida track and field's Nataly Walters was lights out once again at the Visit Gainesville Indoor Classic to garner ASUN Women's Indoor Freshman of the Week, as announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon.
This is the second weekly conference award for Walters in her collegiate debut season, as she was awarded ASUN Field Performer of the Week earlier this season. The freshman reset her own triple jump record with a 12.27m mark this past weekend for a runner-up finish, while also placing fourth in the long jump at 5.69m.
Walters is the second female freshman to win ASUN Freshman of the Week in program history for indoor season. She also joins Smilla Kolbe and Claudia Jalon as the only Ospreys in school history to go earn back-to-back weeks with conference honors.
"It was another strong meet for the Ospreys. Natalie [Walters] continues to jump at a record pace," said Jeff Pigg, Director of Cross Country / Track and Field. "I'm proud of her and love the momentum heading into the ASUN Championships."
Walters will return for the ASUN Indoor Championship meet from Feb. 27-28 at Norton Healthcare Sports and Learning Center in Louisville, Ky.
