JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida softball clinched the Atlantic Sun Graphite Division title after a 4-1 victory over Jacksonville to complete the season sweep of the River City Rumble on Saturday evening at UNF Softball Complex.
The Ospreys move to 17-1 in conference through 18 games played with six games remaining with a pair of series left against Queens and Florida Gulf Coast. The sweep of Jacksonville gives UNF its second season sweep of an ASUN team with the Ospreys being a combined 12-0 between both JU and Stetson.
Allison Benning kicked off the scoring with a solo shot to straightaway center in her first at bat to notch her 17th home run of the season. After breaking the D-I career home run mark in the series opener, the senior surpassed her own D-I single-season program record with 17 home runs during the weekend finale.
Two more runs scored in the third inning with RBI knocks from Chloe Culp and Grace-Shaw Rockey to expand the lead to three runs. Mackenzie Woods put the cherry on top of the historic home weekend with her fifth homer of the season to help earn the regular season division championship.
