
No. 19 Beach Volleyball Splits Pair Of Matches At FGCU Inaugural Tournament

FORT MYERS, Fla. – No. 19-ranked North Florida beach volleyball split a pair of matches against RV South Carolina and No. 20 Stetson on Friday at the FGCU Inaugural Tournament at the FGCU Beach Volleyball Courts.

With a pair of victories, senior Hayden Wooldridge tied the program record with 79 career wins.Â

North Florida opened action with a sweep in its rematch with South Carolina. Sophomore Cameron Humphries and Wooldridge earned the initial lead with a 21-13, 21-12 win at the four line. Redshirt sophomore Sophia Notaro and senior Emily Guenter responded to a first-set loss to take the five spot, 19-21, 21-17, 15-11. The top pair of junior Presley Murray and junior Mackenzie Murphy clinched the match win at the top position, 21-14, 21-18. Senior pair Taylor Pierce and Andrea Da Silva moved to the three line and secured a win, 21-13, 19-21, 15-10, while senior Mariana Feliciano Sanchez and junior Madison Espy made their pair debut and finished the sweep with a 18-21, 22-20, 15-11 win at the two slot. Â

In the top-20 dual with Stetson, Wooldridge and Humphries took the initial point with a 21-15, 21-13 win on four. Stetson secured the match with wins at the one, three and five spots. Sanchez and Espy added a three-set win, 21-18, 18-21, 15-12, to reach the final count.Â

North Florida is back on the sand on Saturday to battle host Florida Gulf Coast at 10 a.m. and No. 14 FIU at 2 p.m.Â
