JACKSONVILLE - Jasmynne Gibson had one of the most impressive collegiate debut seasons in D-I program history to garner recognition on the Atlantic Sun All-Freshman Team, as announced by the league office on Thursday afternoon.
The Apopka, Fla., native becomes the second player under head coach Erika Lambert to be awarded all-freshman honors by the conference. She follows in the footsteps of Alexa Washington's performance during her debut collegiate season in 2023-24.
Gibson is the eighth Osprey to receive ASUN Freshman All-Conference distinction. Her and Washington go back-to-back all-freshmen honors for the first time since 2017-18.
The standout freshman was a staple in the post for the Ospreys starting 30 of 31 games played with 8.6 points per game and 7.6 rebounds per game. She recorded six double-doubles throughout the year to be ranked tied for sixth in the nation for double-doubles by a freshman.
Gibson earned the first ASUN Freshman of the Week given out after combining for 28 points and 17 rebounds against Trinity Baptist and Georgia Southern. She also stepped it up in ASUN play with 8.8 PPG and 8.3 RPG, ranking top five in the conference in rebounding.
Freshman | Apopka, Fla. | Forward
"The first time I saw Gibby on our campus in an athletic uniform, she was running the 400-meter final in the high school state championship at Hodges Stadium. That race takes some serious guts. When she officially arrived at UNF, I knew right away that she would elevate our program's competitiveness. Gibby brings high energy to every single workout, hates to lose and plays her game with a lot of passion. She was one of the top rebounders in the ASUN all season long and often matched up against stronger, more experienced post players with no fear. We threw her into the fire as a starter with big minutes and I'm just so proud of the way she rose to the challenge. Gibby is very deserving of this honor!"
