JACKSONVILLE – The Atlantic Sun Conference announced Tuesday that North Florida men's basketball sophomore guard
Jasai Miles, freshman forward
Josh Harris and sophomore guard
Jaylen Smith earned All-Conference accolades.
Voted on by the conference head coaches, North Florida has received an All-ASUN selection in all but one season since 2012.
Miles captured Third Team All-ASUN honors for the initial All-Conference nod of his career, while Harris secured a unanimous ASUN All-Freshman Team selection. Harris was one of two freshmen to earn a unanimous distinction and became the ninth ASUN All-Freshman Team selection in program history. Smith was one of eight players chosen to the Academic All-ASUN Team.
Miles started all 32 games and averaged 15.4 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists on 42.5 percent from the field and 33.5 percent from three in 31.4 minutes in 2024-25. His 15.4 points and 31.4 minutes led the team, while his 6.8 rebounds were second. Miles amassed 10 or more points in 29 of 32 games, 17 of 18 conference games, which included a 23-game streak from Nov. 29-Feb. 20. He added six games with 20 or more points, four of which were in conference action, and 30 or more points in one game.
Miles posted a career-high 30 points and 11 rebounds against Georgia Southern on Dec. 7, one of his five double-doubles this season, which marked the fourth-ever 30-point and 10-rebound performance in program history. Miles' points (15.4 from 5.7), rebounds (6.8 from 4.2), field-goal percentage (42.5 from 38.9), three-point field-goal percentage (33.5 from 29.9) and minutes (31.4 from 18.6) all experienced a significant improvement from his freshman to sophomore season.
"When you increase your percentages, rebounding and add almost 10 points per game all while becoming more efficient, that will raise a lot of eyebrows across the conference and nation," Head Coach
Matthew Driscoll said. "
Jasai Miles has constantly and consistently done what many throughout our program have done, which is understand that work brings profit and to never confuse achievement with activity. Jasai will be the first to tell you that it takes a village to reach this level of growth, not only hours with our staff but our student managers, however because of his servant's heart he realizes that he still has more to achieve."
Harris pieced together one of the most impressive debut seasons in program history. He started and played in 30 games and averaged 13.4 points and 7.1 rebounds on 55.7 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from three in 22.5 minutes per game in 2024-25. His 13.4 points and 7.1 rebounds per game lead all ASUN freshman. His 55.7 percent from the field leads all conference freshman, is third in the conference and stands 45
th nationally. Harris posted 10 or more points in 17 games, 20 or more points in five and 30 or more points in one. He recorded four double-doubles this season.
Harris turned in a career-high 31 points on 12-20 from the field and 2-3 from three, in addition to nine rebounds and two assists in 29 minutes at Queens (N.C.) on Jan. 23. The 31 points were a career high, team individual season high, the most by a freshman under Head Coach
Matthew Driscoll (2009-Present) and the most in North Florida Division-I history (2005-Present).
Harris eclipsed the 20-point mark ahead of any previous UNF freshman during that era. Harris' 16.3 points per game average through three games was the highest by any UNF freshman in the program's DI era.
"You talk about a young man that has performed as advertised which is very difficult to do after having such an accomplished well decorated high school career," Driscoll stated. "
Josh Harris has an uber amount of natural talent and feel that is rare, paired with his soft touch around rim, which makes him one of the toughest to defend down low in the ASUN. Josh, because of his love for people, has always been receptive to coaching in order to become the best version of himself daily. Over the years we have always challenged our guys who have won this award and now Josh to what is next will completely depend on many factors including but not limited to his physical, mental, and intellectual growth."
An International Business Major, Smith boasted a 3.96 grade point average. A 2023 ASUN All-Freshman Team selection, Smith started all 32 games and averaged 11.4 points, 5.7 assists and 2.1 rebounds on 41.4 percent from the field and 34.6 percent from three in 27.5 minutes per game in 2024-25.
He leads the ASUN in both assists and assists per game, standing 17
th nationally with 181 assists. Smith led the team in assists in 26 of 32 games and posted five or more assists in 20 games. His 181 assists are the most by an Osprey since Gandia-Rosa's program-record 211 assists in 2019-20.
"
Jaylen Smith joins a long list of talented and accomplished players that demonstrated the power that academics plays in the holistic approach to being a student-athlete," Driscoll added. "Jaylen is one of four North Florida guards that has led the ASUN in assists per game, which shows his servant mentality in addition to his double-digit scoring output. Jaylen has in a short period of time had so many wonderful experiences outside of basketball, especially with corporate leadership that there is truly a lot that he still has in front of him to achieve."
