Baseball Drops Midweek Game At Florida State

Aaron Potter Tosses Two Scoreless in 10-1 Loss

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - North Florida baseball could not overcome an early deficit, falling 10-1 to Florida State on Tuesday evening from Dick Howser Stadium.

Florida State (12-0) struck first in the bottom of the first inning. Gage Harrelson cracked a leadoff double for FSU. Alex Lodise reached on an infield single and Max Williams walked to load the bases. With the bases full, Cal Fisher brought home Harrelson on a sacrifice fly. With runners at first and third, Jaxson West drove in Lodise on a groundout to put the Seminoles ahead 2-0.

North Florida (7-6) responded in the second. Santiago Ordonez singled to start the inning. Three batters later, Mitchell Collins ripped an RBI double which made it 2-1.

The Seminoles stayed hot in the second. With one out, Myles Bailey (2) smacked a solo home run. BJ Gibson followed with a walk and he stole second. With a runner in scoring position, Harrelson reached on an infield single. The throw to first was off-target and it allowed Gibson to score.

Leading 4-1, Gibson doubled to start the fourth inning for Florida State. He advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a sac fly from Lodise.

FSU did not slow down. With two outs in the fifth, Hunter Carns walked. With a runner on first, Bailey (3) clobbered his second home run of the game which gave the Seminoles a 7-1 advantage.

Up 7-1, Lodise cracked a leadoff double for Florida State. Williams followed with an RBI single to bring home the eighth run of the night for the Noles.

Florida State added two more runs in the eighth. Carter McCulley walked to start the inning. Nathan Cmeyla ripped a double. With runners at second and third, Drew Faurot singled home McCulley. Following a flyout, Cmeyla moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on an error.
