Ospreys Fend Off Late Rally in 5-3 Win

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - A four-run third inning helped North Florida secure a 5-3 win against Bethune-Cookman, Tuesday night from Jackie Robinson Ballpark.

North Florida (12-9, 1-2 ASUN) struck first in the third inning. Drew Leinenbach reached on a hit by pitch to start the inning. Nick Monile singled to put two runners on. With runners at first and second, Mitchell Collins laced an RBI single. Connor Moore followed with another RBI single. With two runners on, Cade Bush popped a sac-fly which scored Collins. One pitch later, Jabin Bates ripped an RBI double to make it 4-0 against Bethune-Cookman (10-11, 3-0 SWAC).

Leading 4-0 in the eighth, Santiago Ordonez singled to start the inning. He was pinch ran for by James Oman, who advanced to second on an error, which also allowed Leinenbach to reach. Both runners advanced on a balk and Oman would score on another error that made it 5-0 Ospreys.

Bethune-Cookman battled back in the bottom of the eighth. Michael Rodriguez and Andrey Martinez smacked back-to-back singles. With two runners on, Armani Newton cracked an RBI double. Jeter Polledo plated a run on a ground ball and Darryl Lee added another on a sac-fly which made it 5-3.
