Senior Smilla Kolbe becomes the program's first NCAA Indoor Championships qualifier - women's or men's - with her spot in the women's 800-meter.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Committee announced Monday that senior Smilla Kolbe has qualified in the women's 800-meter for the 2025 NCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championships, hosted on Friday and Saturday, March 14-15 at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Va.Â
Â
"It's a great accomplishment to have an athlete qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships." Director of Cross Country/Track and Field Jeff Pigg said. "With the times around the nation, this was the hardest meet to qualify in NCAA history. There are a lot of phenomenal athletes from around the world competing for a spot in this event. Smilla is prepared and we know that this will be a great experience for her."
Â
Kolbe is the first NCAA Indoor Championships qualifier – women's or men's – in program history. The top 16 declared athletes in each event and relays receive bids to the meet. Â
