13 Strikeouts, Five-Run Eighth Leads Baseball to Friday Night Win Against Brown

Ospreys Record 12 Hits, Homer Twice in 9-3 Win.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -Â Three pitchers combined to strikeout 13 Bears hitters as North Florida rolled past Brown 9-3 Friday night from Harmon Stadium.
Locked in a 3-3 tie, Nick Monile singled to lead off the inning for North Florida (3-2). Back-to-back groundouts moved Monile to third, and he scored on an RBI single from Jabin Bates which pushed UNF ahead of Brown (0-1) 4-3 in the fifth.
Leading by a run, Brady Browning was hit by a pitch to start the eighth for the Ospreys. Santiago Ordonez and Monile worked two straight walks to load the bases. Following a strikeout, Connor Moore walked and plated a run. With the bases still full, Bates smacked a sacrifice fly, making it a 6-3 game. With two runners on, Cade Bush (1) crushed a three-run home run which helped seal a 9-3 win for the 'Spreys.
UNF opened the scoring in the first. With one out, Carter White reached on an infield single. With a runner at first, Moore tripled home White. One batter later, Bates rolled a ground ball and scored Moore making it 2-0.
Brown responded in the third. Cam LaGrassa singled to start the inning. Two batters later, Gunner Boree walked. Both runners advanced a base on a wild pitch. With two runners in scoring position, Mika Peterson ripped an RBI single. DJ Dillehay drove in another on a sacrifice fly to tie the game at two.
With two outs in the home half of the fourth, Brady Browning (1) laced a solo home run to push UNF ahead 3-2.
The Bears wasted no time evening the score. Dillehay singled to start the fifth. He advanced all the way to third on a throwing error and scored on a sacrifice fly from Brandon Chang.
UNF put on a pitching clinic in the win. Ryan Furey struck out three and Kai Etwaru punched out four. Zane Starling added six more strikeouts over three perfect innings and recorded a save.
