
Women's Basketball's Dezuray McGill Named ASUN Freshman Of The Week

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida Women's Basketball freshman forward Dezuray McGill was recognized as ASUN Freshman of the Week on Monday.
"This is the first of many weekly awards for Dezuray [McGill]," Head Coach Erika Lambert said. "She's a rookie who doesn't back down from any challenge. She is a workhorse who is learning more every day and always plays with passion. Dezuray was a steady presence in both games last week, and she made some big-time plays."
McGill helped North Florida secure a 61-57 win over Bethune-Cookman on Nov. 28, and a 56-53 win over Campbell on Nov. 29 to sweep its North Florida Invitational slate and improve to 3-0 at home.Â
McGill was one of four players for North Florida to record double-figures against Bethune-Cookman. She stuffed the stat sheet with 10 points on 5-7 from the field, in addition to three rebounds, two blocks and two steals in 25 minutes against Bethune-Cookman.
She posted another dominant performance with 14 points on 5-8 from the field, 2-2 from three and 2-2 from the free throw line and a team-high eight rebounds in 34 minutes against Campbell. McGill has posted double-digit scoring outings in three of her last four games.Â
North Florida hits the road for a pair of road games at Georgia Southern on Thursday, Dec. 4, at 6 p.m. and at UNC Asheville on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 2 p.m. before returning to UNF Arena to host Coastal Georgia on Tuesday, Dec. 16 at 1 p.m.Â
