LEXINGTON, Ky. - After securing a department-high 3.79 spring team grade point average, North Florida beach volleyball was selected to earn the 2024 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award sponsored by INTENT, while also earning Honor Roll distinction for finishing in the top 20 percent of schools in Division I for team GPA.
The Ospreys had 15 student-athletes earn a 3.5 GPA or higher and six achieve perfect 4.0 GPAs during the Spring '24 semester, helping contribute to a 3.57 department GPA. This honor marks the seventh selection in program history and fourth in as many years.
UNF is just one of 66 programs across Division I to make the honor roll. More than 1,400 collegiate and high school volleyball programs maintained a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale), to earn the award for their classroom excellence during the recently completed academic year.
North Florida won its fifth ASUN Championship this past season, becoming the first team in program and conference history to sweep the ASUN Tournament without giving up a single match point. The Ospreys made a first-ever appearance in the National Collegiate Beach Volleyball Championship, earning an automatic berth after its ASUN Championship victory.
Iris Fletcher became just the third player in program history to be named ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year, while also earning Pair of the Tournament honors alongside partner
Katie Camp at the 2024 ASUN Championships for their performances from the third slot.
