BRAUNSCHWEIG, Germany - Shortly after her appearance in the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships earlier this month, Osprey junior
Smilla Kolbe impressed once again in her home country with a fourth-place finish in the 800m finals race at the 2024 German Championships.
Kolbe recorded another stellar time across the pond reaching 2:04.66 in the 800m finals this past weekend. To qualify for the 800m finals, she also clocked in a time of 2:05.44 to place first in her heat.
"Smilla [Kolbe] completed a fantastic season at the German Championships. Her NCAA running was awesome, and then she was able to go home and place fourth over in Germany," said head coach Jeff Pigg. "It's been a long season for her and it is amazing to see her still running at such a high level. She has taken her running to the next level and her work ethic, drive and dedication have paved the way for her talent to shine. I am very proud of her."
The Hanover, Germany, native was the youngest runner out of the eight finalists in the race at just 22 years old. Along with her placement at the German Championships, she finishes her 2024 track season as a three-time All-ASUN selection, two-time ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year and an All-American honorable mention selection in the women's 800m.
