JACKSONVILLE - North Florida softball junior Allison Benning has been selected by the Atlantic Sun Conference to the 2024 Spring Winners for Life Team, as announced by the league office on Thursday afternoon.
The ASUN listed the selections of their team with one student-athlete from each of the 11 schools in the conference. The award goes to the student-athletes within the ASUN that have performed well within their respective sports, as well as in the classroom.
Benning is one of three softball players that were selected to the ASUN Winners for Life team this spring. She joins Jeanay Riley from Eastern Kentucky and Angelina Bonilla from FGCU, while also representing one of the eight female student-athletes on the team.
The ASUN First Team selection was recently selected to the CSC Academic All-District Team after earning a 3.92 cumulative GPA in communications and multimedia journalism. She has also picked up national awards for her performance this season as a NFCA Third Team All-Southeast Region selection and a D1 Softball Second Team All-American by WAR selection.
The Lake Elmo, Minn., native, batted a .347 average with 16 home runs and 46 RBIs, while also throwing 200 strikeouts with a 1.89 ERA and 19 wins on the diamond. She was picked by Softball America over the weekend as the No. 3 two-way player in the nation and the No. 70 overall player in their final rankings.
