Lyshko Improves To 5-0 in ASUN Singles Matches
FORT MYERS, Fla. - North Florida women's tennis (8-8) were unable to carry its momentum onto the road after suffering its second loss on the season in conference play to Florida Gulf Coast (9-8) on Thursday evening.
FGCU had a great start to doubles play which transferred over to singles play, as the Ospreys struggled throughout the match. With all the momentum on the Eagles' side, the Ospreys had to find a way to come up with four wins in singles play, but would ultimately fall short, 5-2, to FGCU.
UNF and FGCU split sets on courts two and three to start the doubles play. Amy Kaplan and Alisa Lyshko would falter in a close 6-4 result to give the Eagles the two courts needed to go into singles play with a 1-0 lead over the Ospreys.
Going into singles play, the Ospreys tried to find a way to bounce back and win some sets to build some momentum. Kendall Nash would put up a good performance in singles play by winning her court in straight sets. Alisa Lyshko would go point-for-point on court five, where she would end up winning in a third-set, 10-point tiebreak, but the UNF fell in the remaining singles matches in a 5-2 result on the road.
Next up for the Ospreys, they will make a trip to DeLand, Fla., to face Stetson on Saturday, Mar. 30, at 11:30 a.m.
