Ospreys Sweep Jacksonville, Fall to FGCU

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida beach volleyball (5-3) split its remaining two matches in the DUUUVAL Duals with another back-and-forth classic in a 3-2 loss to FGCU (6-3) and a 5-0 sweep of crosstown rivals Jacksonville (2-8) on Saturday afternoon at "The Coop" Beach Volleyball Complex.

Before the Ospreys match against FGCU, several UNF beach volleyball alumnus were celebrated with an honorary first serve. Junior Hayden Wooldridge recorded her 50th win as an Osprey in UNF's rout of Jacksonville to close out its home opening weekend.

After playing to a 3-2 win the day before, the Ospreys got out to another early lead with wins from Madeline Camp/Katie Camp and Mackenzie Murphy/Mariana Feliciano Sanchez who took their match in three sets. FGCU picked up its first match point on court three, before tying the score on court two in a tight three-set thriller with Madison Espy/Presley Murray. FGCU would secure the win in the third set against Michaela Rezentes/Taylor Pierce to give UNF its first loss of the weekend.

UNF swept its crosstown rivals for the second time this season in the Ospreys 28th win in a row against the Dolphins all-time. Madeline and Katie Camp got UNF in front early with a solid display on court two. Hayden Wooldridge then picked up her 50th win as an Osprey on court one alongside Cameron Humphries. Murray and Espy dispatched their opponents on court two to clinch the win for the Ospreys in dominant fashion. Pierce and Rezentes were taken to a third set but overcame Jacksonville 15-11. It came down to an exciting three-set match on court three with Mariana Feliciano Sanchez and Mackenzie Murphy claiming the final match point for the sweep.
