Second Consecutive Year Playing in PGA Tour Event
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida senior Nick Gabrelcik will receive a sponsor's exemption to compete in the Valspar Championship for a second consecutive year from Mar. 21-24 in Palm Harbor, Fla.
Gabrelcik will be one of four sponsor exemptions playing in the event this upcoming weekend. He is currently ranked No. 3 overall in the PGA Tour University rankings with the top-five ranked players at the conclusion of the season earning exemptions on the Korn Ferry Tour.
"It's really cool for Nick [Gabrelcik] to play in his second tour event," said head coach Scott Schroeder. "It is great that we can go support him this time as well."
In 2023, Gabrelcik made the cut in his PGA Tour debut at the Valspar Championship with an overall score of 8-over 292. He joined Ludvig Aberg as two amateurs making the cut at a non-major tournament for the first time since 2020.
The senior will once again play 20 minutes away from his hometown of Trinity, Fla., where he grew up around the tournament as a former standard bearer. His debut from last year was highlighted by his second round score of 4-under 67 to make his way above the cut line.
