Washington Led With 10 Points, Broermann Bring Down Eight Boards

CONWAY, Ark. - North Florida women's basketball (7-15, 1-6) continue put an end to its drought on the road, as the Ospreys were bested by North Alabama (16-6, 8-1), 58-44, on Saturday afternoon.

The Ospreys put forth a competitive effort through all 40 minutes of play, but the Sugar Bears kept its distance the whole game to prevent a potential comeback. Alexa Washington returned to scoring in the double digits, while Emma Broermann gained another eight-plus rebound total.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

First Half: Sarah Taub put up the first points for the Ospreys with a layup inside...Agnes Svansdottir put a stop to an early run from the Sugar Bears with a three assisted by Jayla Adams...another score from Svansdottir kept UNF within five points at the end of the first...Washington had the next pair of scores with a layup and three before the media timeout...Taub and Adams both scored two-point shots to go into the half down, 30-19.

Second Half: Much like the first half, Taub started off with the first points out of the break...Rougier made the next field goal for the Ospreys in from deep, followed with Svansdottir doing work inside the arc with a jumper...an Eklund layup and a few free throws put it within 12 through three...Swann had the quick release going into the fourth period for a trey to bring the deficit to single digits...a pair of Broermann layups kept the Ospreys in the game late...Washington reached double figures with a three, along with a Taub layup shortly after, but UCA ran away with the 58-44 win.

Emma [Broermann] had another solid rebounding effort and Alexa [Washington] gave us some quality minutes off the bench. NOTES

Washington led the team in scoring with 10 points, to go along with three rebounds.
It was the seventh double-digit performance from the freshman, as well as the third in five games.
Taub put up nine points and six rebounds in an all-around effort in Conway, Ark.
Broermann brought down eight boards to reach that mark in six of the past nine games.
UNF had the advantage from the bench, outscoring the Bears, 22-11.
Fifth straight game the Ospreys have used a unique starting lineup.
