Nash Wins Tiebreak Point to Help Propel Ospreys Over Undefeated Bucs Team
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida women's tennis (4-3) was victorious in a closely-fought match against Charleston Southern (4-1) on Monday afternoon.
The Ospreys, who were looking to bounce back after their back-to-back losses to USF and FIU, won in a thriller that handed the Buccaneers their first loss on the season. Kendall Nash and Anslee Long came in clutch during their doubles match to help UNF claim the early lead with the doubles point.
With both matches being split at one piece, Nash and Long came back down 5-2 to win in a tiebreak to boost the Ospreys to the lead after doubles play. That momentum carried over into singles play, as Jasmin Makela added another point for the Ospreys in straight sets.
After many hard-fought sets and Charleston Southern looking to make a comeback, it once again came down to Nash to win it for the Ospreys in singles. Fighting back to force it to a third set, Nash put on a dominant showing to take home the third set, 7-5, giving UNF its fourth win of the season.
Next up for the Ospreys, they will remain at home for a match against FAU on Feb, 24, at 10 a.m., followed by a match at UCF on Feb, 25, at 12 p.m.
