Ospreys Tally Seven First-Place Finishes
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida women's swimming kicked off the 2024-25 competition season in an exciting way, taking down West Florida, 132-130 on Friday morning. The result came down to the final race, as the Ospreys swam to a photo finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay to secure the home opening victory.Â
All told, UNF tallied seven first-place finishes on the day, with Kayla Daley and Victoria Torres each recording two wins each in their respective races.Â
FINAL SCORE
UNF 132, West Florida 130
CLIPBOARD NOTES
"This was an amazing way to start off the season with a win at home against a very good West Florida team. From the start, the tone of the meet was set with first- and second-place finishes in the 400 medley relay. We had a lot of good swims today and it was a total team effort. From freshmen to upperclassmen, everyone was focused and swam fast. Coming down to the last relay is one of the most exciting ways to win or lose a meet. The 400 free relay group of Victoria Torres, Marcia Shaw, Ashley Kephart, and Amelia Hildebrand swam one of the best races I have seen in a long time. It feels very good to get a win, but we still need to stay focused and keep improving as a team". -- head coach Ian CoffeyÂ
