Women's Golf Places Fifth in Fall Finale at Hurricane Invitational

Schroeder, Allendesalazar Finish Among Top 10 Individuals

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Strong performances on the final day of the fall season for North Florida women's golf pushed them into a top-five finish as a team at the Hurricane Invitational hosted by Miami on Tuesday afternoon.

The Ospreys had both Kaitlyn Schroeder and Casilda Allendesalazar take spots in the top 10 to finish out their fall campaigns with five combined top-10 placements over four tournaments. Helen Zhou also joined among the top 25 for the first time this season as well, as she joined Allendesalazar with a team-best final round score of 1-under 71.

ROUND REFLECTIONS

  • Schroeder put on a show once again with 14 pars and a pair of birdies to share sixth overall at even-par 216.
  • The redshirt sophomore carded the most birdies by an Osprey with 11 total, which ranked top five in Miami.
  • She also finished out her fall season with a top-10 mark in par-three scoring average at 1-over.
  • Allendesalazar had her best round of the week with five total birdies, including four over her first nine holes.
  • She scored 1-under 71 to finish out her fall finale at 1-over 217 combined for a share of 10th overall.
  • The senior notched the best mark in par-five scoring average in the field at 6-under.
  • Zhou matched Allendesalazar's score of 1-under 71 for her best score of the week as well with eight straight pars to start and three birdies on the final nine holes.
  • With a top-four par-three scoring average at even-par, she finished among the top 25 for the first time this season at 6-over 222 combined.
  • Kaitlynn Washburn and Braydn Smith combined for a trio of birdies to wrap up the Ospreys' fall at Biltmore GC.
  • Allendesalazar finished with the team-lead in pars with 34, followed by Washburn and Schroeder with 33 total and Zhou with 32 total.
  • A total of 41 birdies were made by the Ospreys over the two-day tournament, which was the most at the event.
  • They also put together an average score of 5-under on par-five holes for a top-five mark in that area.
  • UNF was one of four teams in the tournament with two players in the top 10 and three players in the top 25.
  • The Ospreys' cumulative score of 1-over 289 for the final round was their best of the season so far.
  • It was also the best placement of the season through four tournaments played in the fall 2024 slate.
