Gabrelcik Shares ASUN Men's Co-Golfer of the Week Honors

ATLANTA - Nick Gabrelcik hit the ground running to open the season after being selected to his program-leading 12th-career ASUN Golfer of the Week honor, as announced by the league office on Thursday afternoon. He shares the honor with Joe Sullivan from FGCU, who won the Valero Texas Collegiate individual title.

"Nick Gabrelcik just keeps playing great," said head coach Scott Schroeder on the senior's performance at Tennessee. "Hope it will be a start to many more this year."

After picking up his 12th career honor, the Trinity, Fla., native surpasses Philip Knowles' program mark of 11 total conference weekly awards and now only trails Lipscomb's Dawson Armstrong mark by one for the most in ASUN history. The Ospreys also expand their lead as a team for most ASUN weekly honors to 65 total with the second-best team being Kennesaw State at 48.

Gabrelcik has his sights set on being selected as the ASUN Golfer of the Year for a fourth consecutive season. With his runner-up finish in the season-opener for his 13th career top-two finish, he is on track to accomplish the career feat.

Recorded program-best and career-best 18-hole score of 8-under 62 during the final round.
Totaled seven birdies and an eagle with only one hole worse than par on the final day of play.
Jumped from 19th at even-par to second at 10-under with back-to-back rounds in the 60s on the second and third days.
The senior also had the second-most birdies (16 total), the second-best par-four average (11-under) and the fourth-best par-five average (4-under) out of all players in the tournament.
Led the Ospreys in scoring and helped team to fifth overall finish out of 14 teams.
Played against Tennessee, Ole Miss, Miss State, Virginia Tech, Cincinnati, Wisconsin, Nebraska and Clemson.
