LEXINGTON, Ky. - UNF beach volleyball doesn't just have one but two coaches tabbed to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Beach Volleyball 30 Under 30 List as made public by the national organization Tuesday, June 27. North Florida's Antonia Harrison and Madilyn McCarty both made the list, as the alums helped North Florida to its fourth-straight 20-plus win season.
Antonia Harrison
Harrison finished up her first season as the graduate assistant after rejoining the squad this past fall. The New Zealand native was a three-year letterwinner on the sand for the Ospreys, first donning the Navy and Gray as a student-athlete in 2019.Â
During her playing career, Harrison was an all-league honoree and 2021 ASUN Champion. Harrison and playing partner Dana Roskic clinched the match-winning court in UNF's 3-2 victory in the finals against Stetson during that season. That season she earned two ASUN Pair of the Week honors, First Team All-ASUN recognition, ASUN Pair of the Tournament laurels and AVCA Top Flight credentials.Â
Madilyn McCarty
McCarty finished up her second season in the volunteer coaching slot for North Florida after returning to The Nest in March of 2022. A native of Springfield, Ill., McCarty has grown her roots at UNF after joining North Florida as an indoor and beach volleyball student-athlete prior to the 2017 season.Â
McCarty collected over 2,000 assists as a versatile setter in indoor play, while also taking home All-ASUN honors and 44 victories on the sand. McCarty also touts two degrees from UNF, earning her bachelor's and master's with the Ospreys.Â
UNF has gone 49-25 in the two seasons McCarty has been in her current coaching role, helping North Florida to what was nearly consecutive seasons of program-high win totals.Â
This past year, Harrison and McCarty along with head coach Dough Wright helped the Ospreys to a program record of ASUN honors. Madison Espy became the program's first-ever ASUN Freshman of the Year, while four pairs earned all-league honors and Chantel McMillan became the program's first ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year since 2013. Wright was named ASUN Coach of the Year and North Florida added a program-record number of College Sports Communicators All-District and AVCA Top Flight honorees.
