Lee Shines With 3-Under 69 Day to Share Sixth

NORMAN, Okla. - North Florida men's golf got off to a good start through one round of play as the Ospreys sit at sixth overall with 3-under 283 at the NCAA Norman Regional on Monday afternoon.

The Ospreys had great scores turned in from Davis Lee and Robbie Higgins with 11 combined birdies notched between the duo in the first round. Lee was the only Osprey in the 60s at 3-under and tied for sixth, while Higgins tallied four birdies on the first five holes of the back nine for a top-12 standing.

ROUND REFLECTIONS

Lee scored his 20th-career round in the 60s with five birdies to total 3-under 69 and a share of sixth overall.
The senior had par or better through the first 15 holes and ended the round with a birdie on the 18th hole.
He completes day one with a top-six average on par-three holes at even-par and a top-seven mark for birdies with five total.
Higgins started the back nine on fire with four birdies from the 10th through 14th holes, along with a birdie on the 18th, to turn in 2-under 70.
The First Team All-ASUN selection recorded his team-best 21st round under par on the season.
He stands with a top-three mark for birdies with six total and a top-seven average on par-four holes at 2-under.
Nick Gabrelcik put together two birdies on the front nine to card 1-over 73 to share 35th overall.
He joins Lee and Higgins with the third-best average on par-five holes at 2-under.
Was also top 10 for pars scored on the opening day of regionals with 13 total.
Cody Carroll joins Gabrelcik at 1-over 73 with four total birdies on the day, including back-to-back on the second and third holes.
Lance Yates rounded out the group at 2-over 74 to open round one at regionals.
Had the most pars for the Ospreys during round one with 14 total, which ranks fourth among the field.
The Ospreys were one of five teams with two players in the top 12 and four players in the top 35.
UNF put up the second-best par-five score at 6-under and the fourth-best average par-four score at 2-under.
Also recorded the third-most birdies with 18 total and 55 pars through the first round.
