Beach Volleyball Concludes Postseason Run in ASUN Semis

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - UNF beach volleyball was pitted against rival FGCUÂ (19-17) in a rematch of yesterday's contest, vying for a spot in the ASUN Championship Final, but the Eagles held on in a number of close sets as the Ospreys (24-11) dropped the conference semifinals matchup to second-seeded FGCU, 3-1, Sunday, April 23.
The Ospreys' season comes to a close with a 24-11 record, one win shy of tying last year's all-time single season wins mark. North Florida also closes the year with a 15-4 record at home, good for the most home wins in program history.Â
Mariana Feliciano-Sanchez and Mackenzie Murphy went 4-1 in tournament play, earning ASUN All-Tournament recognition. It was the second time in as many seasons that Feliciano-Sanchez took home postseason accolades.Â

Play started extremely tight at the fourth and fifth pairs, with both going to three frames. Both pairs would finish within minutes of each other.Â
Chantel McMillan and Hayden Wooldridge were clipped, 22-20, in the first frame, but evened it up with a 21-14 rout in the second session. They would pull off the comeback, winning 15-13 in the third for their fourth win in a row during the tournament.Â
Feliciano Sanchez and Mackenzie Murphy staved off four set points in the first set, but the Eagles eventually got the match in three, tying things up at 1-1 overall.
FGCU got the lead at the first slot and later clinched the contest at the third pair with a pair of runs late in sets one and two.
Things were left unfinished at court two, 22-22, in the second set with FGCU up one frame.
