Men's Golf Starts in Top Five at Mason Rudolph Championship

Trio of Ospreys Among Top 18 Individuals
FRANKLIN, Tenn. - North Florida men's golf got off to a great start against a strong field with a fifth-overall standing through the first round of the Mason Rudolph Championship hosted by top-ranked Vanderbilt on Monday afternoon.
The Ospreys have three student-athletes sitting among the top 18 individuals with even-par on the day. Nick Gabrelick, Davis Lee and Cooper Smith combined for 11 birdies in the opening round, including five total between the trio on the last two holes to close out the day strong.

ROUND REFLECTIONS
- Gabrelcik recorded the third-most birdies in the opening round with five total on his way to an even-par 71.
- After a back-and-forth day, he finished the last five holes at 3-under to jump into the 18th-overall position.
- The junior took over on par-five holes, as he shares the top spot for par-five average at 4-under.
- Lee had three birdies to show for, including back-to-back to close the round, for an even-par score as well.
- Smith was the third Osprey to score at even-par with two birdies over the last five holes to share 18th-place.
- The redshirt-sophomore has a top-10 par-four average at even-par through the first day.
- Robbie Higgins eagled the final hole of the day to sit behind the trio at 2-over 73 inside the top 40.
- He joins Gabrelcik with a top-three par-five average at 3-under and a top-10 par-three average at even-par.
- Cody Carroll also eagled the 18th hole to finish up a strong round for UNF to turn in a score of 4-over 75.
- The graduate boasted the most pars of any Osprey with a top-six mark of 13 total in the first round.
- Lance Yates had the best day of all UNF players as an unattached individual at 1-under 70.
- He had the third-best par-three average (1-under), as well as the second-most pars (15).
- Jason Duff was another individual for the Ospreys in Vanderbilt at 8-over 79 on the day.
- The Ospreys have found their niche on par-five holes with the best average so far at 12-under (4.40).
- They also hold the top spot for eagles with two total, the fifth-most pars with 55 total and the eighth-most birdies with 13 total.
- UNF is one of four teams in the event that have three Ospreys inside the top 18 individuals.
