Broke 35-Year-Old UNF Indoor Program 3k Record
ATLANTA - Aidan O'Gorman has been tabbed as the ASUN Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week after a recording-breaking performance at the RADD Sports College Invitational, as announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon.
The New Smyrna Beach, Fla., native surpassed his previous personal-best run to clock in a 3000m time right at the eight-minute mark. The time was not only a facility record for the new indoor facility in Gainesville, Fla., but it also broke the UNF program record for the race by six seconds that was set in 1988.
"Aidan [O'Gorman] works hard and meets the work with all of the details necessary for recovery," said head coach Jeff Pigg about his senior runner. "He is fully committed, and I am very proud to see him racing fast already this year. His main goal is outdoor 10,000 meters, but he is evidence that good guys are always good."
