GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Another record went down in the Osprey record books for a second consecutive week to start the indoor season, as Aidan O'Gorman took down a 35-year-old program mark in the indoor 3000m race on Thursday evening at the Alachua County Sports Complex.
O'Gorman ran a lifetime best time of 8:00 in the 3000m meter to not only finish as the top runner in the meet, but also set a new UNF record for the 3k. He beat out Declan Doyle's time of 8:06.10 that was set in 1988.
Mac Franks kept the streak going after he also set a personal-best mark in the 3k at 8:09. Franks beat his old mark by 40 seconds, upping his rank at the finish line.
Aiden Arnold and Gavin O'Brien both set achievable ranks, as they earned lifetime marks of 8:20 in the 3k. Ladarius Tellis also fought hard, hitting the ground running with his speed in the 600m run.

PIGG'S POINTS
"Aiden O'Gorman ran 8:00 for 3000-meter school record. We've had a lot of great 3000m runners like Noah Perkins, Nathan Jubran, Nick Morken and Coach Stahl, so it is a very strong record. He and Mac [Franks] worked really well together and pushed the pace the whole way. Aidan [O'Gorman] works very hard and it is nice to see him get such a great mark. Mac ran a PR as well with 8:09. Aiden [Arnold] and Gavin [O'Brien] really looked good with big personal bests of 8:20.
For the women 3000 meters, EJ [Schlageter] and Erica [Fisher] worked very well together attempting to break 10:00. EJ pulled away with a great kick to run 9:55 and Erica finished strong with 10:00. The 600 meter was great race for Ella [Chandler]. Her time was fast and she ran smart. Ladarius [Tellis] ran a very aggressive 600m to show good speed. Most of the sprinters also hit personal bests and continue to make progress. I'm proud of how well we competed. It was a great day for us."
