ATLANTA - Aidan O'Gorman has been selected to the ASUN Men's Outdoor Track & Field All-Academic team as announced by the conference office on Friday afternoon. He earned a 3.66 GPA pursuing his degree in civil engineering, while placing second overall in the 1500m race at the ASUN Outdoor Track & Field Championship.
This is the first time that O'Gorman has been selected to the conference's all-academic team for outdoor track & field. It is the eighth-consecutive season that an Osprey has made the All-Academic team, as well as the 18th all-time selection for UNF to the men's ASUN All-Academic team, which ranks third in the conference.
"It is quite an accomplishment to be recognized for both how well you compete and how successful you are in the classroom," said head coach Jeff Pigg. "Neither come without hard work and dedication. Aidan [O'Gorman] takes pride in everything he does and I'm proud to see him given this honor."
The junior from New Smyrna Beach, Fla., is the only Osprey this season to make the all-academic team for cross country, indoor track & field, and outdoor track & field. The last UNF runner to accomplish this impressive feature was Tyler Stahl during the 2017-2018 season, who is now an assistant coach for the team.
It is also his fourth academic team he's made overall in his career, as he was selected to the USTFCCCAÂ squad earlier this year for cross country on top of his three ASUN All-Academic honors this season.
O'Gorman finished the year as the highest ranked UNF athlete on the NCAA D-I Outdoor Qualifying List ranked No. 58 overall in the 10,000m race. This came as a result of him breaking the program record for the fastest 10k time at the Raleigh Relays with a time of 29:17.26.
