Track & Field Honors Seniors on Final Day of UNF Invitational

Two More Top-Three Finishes For Ospreys on Saturday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The North Florida track and field team wrapped up its regular season on a high note during the final day of the UNF Invitational at the Visit Jax Track at Hodges Stadium.

On the track, Robert Pedroza and John McKenzie added two more top-three finishes to bring the total on the weekend to eight. Pedroza set a new personal-best time in the 800m, along with six other Ospreys that reach lifetime best marks on the final day of competition.

The Ospreys also held Senior Day prior to the meet Saturday afternoon. The two-day event saw four new facility records as North Florida wrapped up the regular season for the outdoor track and field slate.
    

ON THE TRACK

Men's Races
  • Three Ospreys placed in the top seven for the 800m headlined by Pedroza's third-place time of 1:49.88, which is also a lifetime best mark for him in the race.
  • Timothy Doyle had a specular race as well finishing in fifth at 1:51.19, while Ladarius Tellis matched his best time at 1:51.90 for seventh place and Aiden Arnold ran 1:53.37 to finish 11th overall.
  • McKenzie also raced in the 5000m open race, where he turned in another top-three finish for the Ospreys on the weekend clocking in at 15:44.92.
  • Jordan Travieso and Ryan Thomas finished side-by-side in the sixth heat of the 400m race with personal-best times of 50.86 and 51.58 respectively.

Women's Races
  • Emma Jane Schlageter ran the second 800m race of her career with a best time of 2:13.51 that notched her 16th place.
  • Leah Pelham also had a nice race in her debut for the 800m with a top-50 finish and a time of 2:26.65.
  • Celine D'Anna and Shawn Woodall both participated in the 400m race, where they both posted personal-best times of 1:00.24 and 1:03.77 respectively.

The UNF track and field teams will take finals week off before returning to Visit Jax Track at Hodges Stadium for the ASUN Outdoor Championship from May 12-14.
