JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Aidan O'Gorman and
Robert Pedroza each ran their preliminary races during the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field East Region First Round late Wednesday evening at Visit Jax Track at Hodges Stadium.
O'Gorman turned in a 24th-place finish during the men's 10,000m race clocking in at 29:43.75. Pedroza earned a time of 1:50.53 to be seventh in his heat alongside some of the nation's best middle-distance athletes.
After a five-hour delay due to inclement weather, the NCAA East Region races started at approximately 10 p.m. Pedroza competed in his 800m race at 11:40 p.m., while O'Gorman started his 10k at 12:55 a.m.
Both O'Gorman and Pedroza complete their Ospreys careers on their home track as two of the most accomplished athletes in program history. O'Gorman holds records for the outdoor 5k and 10k races, while Pedroza is also a record-holder for the outdoor 800m race.
Smilla Kolbe and Ella Chandler are on deck for North Florida track & field with the women's 800m first round races starting on Thursday, May 29, set for 7:50 p.m., at Visit Jax Track at Hodges Stadium.
