
TOURNEY TIDBITS: 2022 Augusta Haskins Award Invitational

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Coming off their first team title of the season after winning The Hayt, No. 35 North Florida men's golf looks to duplicate that success when it takes on another stacked field at the Augusta Haskins Award Memorial from Apr. 2-3 in Augusta, Ga.
The Ospreys are in a tough field that includes 15 totals team, 10 of which are ranked in the top 100 and eight that are ranked in the top 50. Oklahoma State is the top dog in the tournament ranked at No. 2 overall, while Texas, Notre Dame and Illinois all rank within the Golfstat's top 25 collegiate men's teams.
Nick Gabrelcik will once again have his sights set on another top-10 finish, as well as his third individual title of the year. Robbie Higgins will also be attempting to follow up his career weekend at Sawgrass, while Brandon Mancheno will make his first start on the team this season after impressing as an unattached individual at The Hayt.

- This will be the 43rd edition of the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational, the first time UNF will play in this tournament.
- First of two tournaments that the Ospreys will play in Georgia this season, as the ASUN Championship will be played later this month in Athens, Ga.
- No ASUN opponents are in this tournament, while two teams, Navy and UCF, played at The Hayt just this past weekend.
- Field features 15 teams and is headlined by No. 2 Oklahoma State, as well as No. 12 Texas and No. 13 Notre Dame.
- Oklahoma State will also be the defending champions of the Augusta Haskins Award Invite after carding 37-under 827 combined in 2021.
- The Ospreys will play 36 consecutive holes on Saturday and conclude the tourney on Sunday with 18 holes.
- Gabrelcik is looking for his seventh top-10 finish in eight tournaments, sixth tournament under par and third individual title after being the first Osprey to win back-to-back individual titles at The Hayt since David Bennett in 2000-01.
- Higgins made the title-clinching chip and putt on the final hole for his team to finish The Hayt in third-place at 5-under 211, which matched his career-best round of 54 and gave him the best placement of his career.
- Mancheno will play in his first tournament of the season for the Osprey team after his unattached individual finish of 6-over combined that tied him for 38th, including a 3-under 69 score in the second round.
- Cody Carroll stepped up in the final round of last weekend's tournament for the Ospreys with two birdies in the back nine to finish the day 1-over 73 and placed 30th at 5-over combined.
- Davis Lee joined Carroll tied for 30th after his final round of 2-over 74 to finish his weekend at 5-over 221 as well.
North Florida will play in their regular-season finale tournament at the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial hosted by Virginia from Apr. 11-12, in Charlottesville, Va.
