Baseball Drops Midweek Game at The Citadel

CHARLESTON, S.C - The Citadel scored early and North Florida baseball was held off the scoreboard until the sixth inning as the Ospreys fell in midweek baseball at The Citadel, 8-1, Tuesday, March 29.

Both teams used seven pitchers in North Florida's first non-conference affair outside the Sunshine State. UNF (9-17) was held without a walk and the Ospreys fanned 10 Bulldog (17-7) batters as the game lasted just under two and a half hours.

Cade Westbrook extended his on-base streak to 13 games, Caleb Stafford made his season debut and Ian Brown started his first contest of the year.

Behind the Line Score
  • Some first inning miscues hurt UNF as The Citadel scored two via a walk, bunt single and a pair of errors in the infield.
  • The Citadel expanded its lead with three runs in the third coming on a leadoff walk, four hits and a sac fly.
  • A two-out two-RBI double to right allowed The Citadel to score two more in the fourth.
  • Tyler Gerteisen got UNF on the board in the sixth, ripping a two-out RBI single through the right side to score Brock Edge after he reached on a one-out double to right.
  • Another two-out hit plated a Bulldog in the sixth, making it 8-1 for the hosts.
