
TOURNEY TIDBITS: 2022 General Hackler Championship

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida men's golf will make the trip up to Myrtle Beach, S.C., to compete in the General Hackler Championship hosted by Coastal Carolina from Mar. 13-14 at Dunes Golf & Beach Club. This will be their eighth straight season at the tournament, as Nick Gabrelcik took home the medalist crown and the team finished as the runner-up last season.
The Ospreys have their sights on four straight top-three finishes to start the spring season. They finished in third at both the Sea Best Invitational and Nexus Championship, as well as runner-ups at the Coral Creek Club Invitational.
Both Lance Yates and Brandon Mancheno will be making their debuts playing for the Ospreys' team this season. They've each competed in multiple tournaments this season as unattached individuals.

- This will be the eighth consecutive meeting for the Ospreys at the General Hackler Championship.
- They have two first-place finishes at the tournament since their first-ever appearance in 2015.
- Last season, they finished second in a field of 15 teams behind the champion, NC State.
-Â Gabrelcik claimed the medalist crown in Myrtle Beach last year and will look to defend his individual title this week.
- It will be the first tournament played north of Florida for UNF since competing in Glencoe, Ill., this past September at the Windon Memorial Classic.
- The tournament features a stacked field of 15 teams, in which 10 teams are ranked in the top 50.
- The field is headlined by No. 2-ranked Oklahoma State, as well as No. 18-ranked Auburn.
- No. 39-ranked Liberty will be only ASUN opponent the Ospreys will play at Dunes Golf & Beach Club.
- The Ospreys will play 36 holes on Monday and conclude the tourney on Tuesday with 18 holes.
- UNF placed as the runner-ups of the Coral Creek Club Invitational at Florida Gulf Coast with a score of 3-over 850 (285-286-279).
-Â Gabrelcik scored all three of his rounds at par or better to be tied for third at 5-under 208.
- Robbie Higgins strung together back-to-back top 10 scores to come in tied for eighth with a score of 2-under 211 at FGCU.
- The Ospreys were one of two teams to have two players place in the top eight on the player's leaderboard.
- Yates recorded an even-par score of 213 as an unattached individual to finish just outside the top 10, while Davis Lee finished within the top 40 with a score of 5-over 218.
North Florida will head back home after their early week meet at Coastal Carolina to prepare for their one and only home tournament of the season, The Hayt, from Mar. 27-28 in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
