LYNCHBURG, Va. - Nathan Jubran and Aidan O'Gorman highlighted the Ospreys' first day in the ASUN Indoor Championship meet after taking first and second in the 5000m race on Friday afternoon. Jake Turner also finished fourth in the 5000m in his collegiate indoor race debut to give UNF three runners in the top four for this event.

Timothy Doyle turned in a qualifying time of 1:51.60 in the 800m to clinch his spot in the finals race tomorrow afternoon. His new personal-best time on Friday was the fourth-best time in the preliminary rounds and only 2.50 seconds back from the top finisher in the 800m qualifiers.

The women's team performed well with a plethora of personal-best times in each event, including all five runners in the women's 1-mile reaching indoor lifetime bests for the Ospreys.


IN THE FIELD

  • Tariq Lajoie made major strides in the high jump competition with a personal-best indoor mark of 1.97m that earned him seventh place at the meet.


ON THE TRACK

Men's Races
  • Jubran clocked a time of 14:08.81 to earn his first-career top finish at the ASUN Indoor Championships in the 5000m after placing third in the same race at the 2020 meet.
  • O'Gorman was right behind Jubran with a career-best time of 14:10.30 in the 5000m to earn a second-place finish, while Turner posted a indoor debut time of 14:20.09 that put him in fourth place.
  • Seth Martinez also reach a personal-best time in the 5000m race with a time of 14:45.80 to finish 12th overall among the 24-member field.
  • Doyle posted a time personal-best time of 1:51.60 to finish second in his qualifying heat, which automatically puts him into the 800m finals race tomorrow afternoon.
  • Ladarius Tellis, who also ran a personal-best time, and Onix Ortiz Vazquez recorded times of 1:53.13 and 1:57.18 respectively in the 800m race.
  • Ryan Thomas was the lone runner for the Ospreys in the 400m dash with a time of 51.34.
  • The men finished out the day in the 4000m distance medley relay with a time of 10:12.20 that finished fifth among a seven-team field. The relay team consisted of Thomas, Tellis and Doyle, as well as Aiden Arnold.

Women's Races
  • All five runners for the women ran lifetime best races in the 1-mile preliminary race, lead by Mia McLain and Emma Jane Schlageter who finished 12th and 13th with times of 5:04.47 and 5:04.65.
  • Erica Fisher, Billie Castillo and Hannah Martin rounded out the group that hit their personal-best marks in the mile race finishing just behind McLain and Schlageter in the top 16 spots.
  • Raquel Lespasio hit a personal-best mark in the 5000m race as well to reach a time of 18:08.47 that put her in 18th.
  • Shawna Woodall made her debut for the 400m dash in this afternoon's preliminary round with a time of 1:09.25.
  • The women closed out the first day of the meet with their team of Schlageter and McLain, as well as Celine D'Anna and Leah Pelham in the 4000m distance medley relay with a time of 12:24.65 to place seventh.

UNF will close out the ASUN Indoor Championships on Saturday, Feb. 26, starting at noon. The events on the final day will be the women's high jump, men's 1-mile, men's 800m, men's 3000m, and the 1600m team relays.
