Ospreys and Colonels Meet for First Time as ASUN Foes
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - UNF women's basketball looks for two-straight ASUN wins when it goes to Richmond, Ky. to face ASUN newcomer Eastern Kentucky Saturday, Jan. 22.Â

-UNF and EKU are meeting for just the second time in series history.
-North Florida and EKU are meeting for the first time as ASUN foes.
-The Ospreys and Colonels previously met in a neutral site setting Nov. 29, 2014.

WILMINGTON, N.C. – University of North Florida women's basketball's consistency on both ends of the court powered the Ospreys to a 62-45 victory over Eastern Kentucky to conclude play at the UNCW Hampton Inn Thanksgiving Classic on Saturday at Trask Coliseum. UNF was the only team to go through the classic undefeated, posting a 2-0 record.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-Eastern Kentucky comes into play 10-8 and 3-2 in the ASUN.
-EKU most recently routed Lipscomb, holding the Bisons to just 41 points in a 36-point win.
-The Colonels have picked up ASUN wins against Central Arkansas, Bellarmine and Lipscomb while falling to UNA and Jacksonville State.
-Head coach Greg Todd is in his first season with EKU after seven years at the helm for Morehead State.
-EKU is one of the best teams at getting to the line in the nation. EKU has attempted the sixth-most free throws in the NCAA and has made the third-most in Division I.
-Eastern Kentucky has reeled in 743 rebounds, the 13th most in the nation.
-Jayla Johnson and Alice Recanati are two big names for EKU. Johnson is third in the ASUN for total points (255). Recanati paces the league in assists (87) and is second in steals per game (2.17)

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida women's basketball (8-9, 1-4 ASUN) scored 22 in the second quarter, Rhetta Moore scored 22 for the game and the Ospreys won their first ASUN game of 2022, 66-49, against the Kennesaw State Owls (5-10, 1-3 ASUN) Wednesday, Jan. 19.
The Ospreys shot 10-for-22 from beyond the arc, outscored the Owls by 16 in the second frame and held KSU to 32.7 percent from the floor to win in convincing fashion.
ANOTHER MILESTONE DOWN
Forward Jazz Bond scored 18 points and brought down eight rebounds against Kennesaw State. The game before she recorded her fifth double-double this season with 13 points and 10 boards. Thanks to those performances, Bond eclipsed 1,400 points for her UNF career and 700 boards for her time at UNF.Â
Bond is just one of two Ospreys in program history to surpass 1,400 points and 700 rebounds. She joins UNF great, Skye Barber, who finished her UNF career with 1,937 points and 1,022 rebounds.
RHETTA AND JAZZ
Rhetta Moore and Jazz Bond combined to score 40 of UNF's 66 points against Kennesaw State Wednesday. The duo is a two-headed scoring machine, with both averaging at least 15 points per game on the year. Rhetta and Jazz are neck-and-neck in the UNF career record book for total three-pointers made. Jazz Bond is tied for fourth with 138, while Rhetta Moore is fifth with 135.
ASUN'S BEST
The Ospreys have blocked a shot in every game this season, giving them the most blocks and blocks/game of any team in the league.Â
UNF is shooting 74.5 from the line, good for first in the ASUN and 70th in NCAA Division I women's basketball.Â
Rhetta Moore is leading the league with 2.25 steals/game and Jazz Bond is at the top of the conference in blocks (41) and blocks/game (2.56).Â
