Ospreys Win a Pair of Matches, 3-2

BOCA RATON, Fla. - UNF beach volleyball (15-5) had a day to remember thanks to a pair of 3-2 wins against Palm Beach Atlantic (6-5) and #11 FAU (11-6) Friday, April 2.

UNF's win against the host Owls was the Ospreys' first win against a ranked opponent since defeating #19/20 TCU, 3-2, February 22, 2019.

#11 FAU was the highest-ranked foe UNF has defeated since knocking off #9 Stetson, 3-2, March 23, 2016.

Match 1: UNF 3, Palm Beach Atlantic 2
The Ospreys downed Palm Beach Atlantic in their first-ever meeting.

Chantel McMillan and Carolyn Cain gave the Ospreys a quick 1-0 lead by sweeping the fourth pair. Leah Maloney and Marisa Rogers won 21-15 before falling in the second set. They won a key 15-11 decision in the third frame to make it 2-0 Ospreys.

The Sailfish got two back at the third and fourth slots, but Antonia Harrison and Dana Roskic were big in clinching the match in straight sets at position two.

Match 2: UNF 3, #11 FAU 2
Down 1-0, McMillan and Cain tied the match with a 21-16, 21-18 win at the five slot, the duo's third consecutive win.

A lineup switch sent Harrison and Roskic to the top slot, while Griffey and Workman played at the second pair. The move paid dividends as Harrison and Roskic rolled by FAU's one pair, 21-13 and 21-15.

Up 2-1, Griffey and Workman entered into a battle. The duo won 22-20 in the first session before following it up with the same result to clinch the match.

FAU won at the third position after the match was clinched.
