GAINESVILLE, Fla. -Â Despite inclement weather and a rain delay, the North Florida men's and women's track teams set 11 personal records at the Tom Jones Memorial in Gainesville, Fla., Friday night.
In the women's 1500m, Lydia van Dijk (4:26.08), Mia McLain (4:41.30), and Sadie McLaughlin (4:48.77) all set personal records.
All five of the men in the 1500m had personal bests as well. Jared Vazquez had the top finish for the Ospreys, placing sixth (3:44.81), just behind runners from Ole Miss and Florida.Â
Senior Jenn Brunson set a personal record in the 200m (25.09) and freshman Gavin O'Brien set a personal best in the 3000m steeplechase (9:33.51), shaving almost 20 seconds off his previous time.Â
The women's pole vault that was previously scheduled for Friday is moved to Saturday. The Ospreys will also compete in the men's 800m, women's high jump, women's 400m, and the men's 400m tomorrow.Â
PIGG'S POINTS
"For the men, all five 1500m runners set PR's despite rainy conditions. Jared ran a really strong race. All of the guys looked good and we will just keep getting better as we sharpen coming off of the spring cross country season. In the women's 1500m, Lydia chopped another two seconds off and ran very smart. All three girls ran well and the fastest of their lives. In the steeplechase, Gavin ran a huge race and really made a breakthrough. He is figuring out how to be a college steepler. Jaasiel came out after a long rain delay and cleared 2.06 in the rain in the high jump which showed some real poise. Jenn ran a nice 200m in the rain. Her 400 should be good tomorrow as she keeps increasing her speed. Hoping for some decent weather so we can finish strong." -- Head coach Jeff Pigg
