JACKSONVILLEÂ - After a week off due to schedule adjustments in the ASUN, North Florida women's basketball hosts Lipscomb Saturday and Sunday looking to continue its four-game win streak.
FIVE THINGS TO KNOW
- North Florida looks to keep its four-game win streak intact, while trying to also keep Lipscomb from winning a road game for the first time in the season. The Ospreys are seeking their third consecutive sweep against conference opponents. UNF recently beat North Alabama and Liberty who is ranked in the mid-major top 25.
- Senior Jazz Bond ranks 48th in the NCAA and 2nd in the ASUN in points/gm with 19.2. At the moment she is first in UNF's season record.
- In ASUN games, North Florida is second in total points, 3PTM/gm and assists/game, while ranking first in blocks/game and 3PT%.
- The Ospreys continue to rank in the top 30 in the NCAA several three-point categories including 10th in three-pointers made with 167. UNF is 7th in 3PT/game (9.8) and 26th in attempts (450). UNF leads the ASUN in three-point percentage (37.1) and junior Marissa Mackins tops the ASUN shooting 44.1 percent from long range.
- Head coach Darrick Gibbs garnered his 70th career win against Liberty (2/7/21). Gibbs has now led UNF to at least 10 win seasons for the past five seasons which has not been done in Division I.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
- Lipscomb is riding a winning streak of its own – the longest in a decade. After sweeping Stetson earlier this month, the Lady Bisons won a second consecutive double-header matchup against conference rival Jacksonville University.
- The Lady Bisons nearly doubled JU's score in their second contest, rolling past the Dolphins, 63-36. This was the team's largest victory over an ASUN opponent since 2018, when Lipscomb topped USC Upstate 95-53.
- Senior Taylor Clark leads the Lady Bisons in points, averaging 12.3 per game.
