Pitchers of Record - Clemson
- Win | Regan Spencer (1-0)
- Save | Valerie Cagle (1)
- Loss |Â Alyssa Dyhr (0-1)
How it Happened
- After a single up the middle, Cagle stepped to the plate to hit a two-run homer to give Clemson a 2-0 lead in the first.
- Skyler Stockie then settled down for the next five innings, giving up just three hits and one walk.
- In the fourth, North Florida used back-to-back hits and a hit-by-pitch to load the bases. A short hit to second base was bobbled on the tag out and allowed a run to score.
- Taylor Engman then pinch hit to score a run and move the Ospreys to second and third with just one out to make it a 2-2 game.
- Abi Annett then stepped to the plate to send a short hopper to the pitcher who tried to throw home to get the runner, but Brittany Sundermeier slid under the tag to give the Ospreys a 3-2 lead.
- UNF kept the advantage through the top of the seventh, when once again Cagle came to the plate to blast another two-run home run and give Clemson the final lead.
- Logan Jackson went 2-for-3 with a run scored in her first start of the season.
- Clemson owned a 10-4 edge in hits and left eight on to the Ospreys five.
- As North Florida and Illinois State began to warm up for the second game of the day, a lightning warning and heavy downpours washed out the day.
