
Men's Soccer Welcomes Four Ospreys to Signing Class

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -Â North Florida men's soccer announces the additions of four signees to the 2022 signing class on Monday afternoon. They join junior transfer Luke Barforosh as the newest additions to the Ospreys for next season.
"The first part of our 2021 class addresses some key positions while also adding depth. This class definitely make us more athletic, and we are not nearly finished with the class. All the early signees are also strong student-athletes, all with at or near 4.0 GPAs." -- head coach Derek Marinatos

Position:Â Central Defender
Height:Â 6'1"
Bio: Played for Florida Elite ECNL…won ECNL Florida Region Championship with club team…was selected ECNL All-American, Florida ECNL conference POTY, and Florida ECNL first-team All-Conference, as well as ODP Region All-Star…scored 22 goals and had 10 assists in high school while earning All-Area first team.
Coach's Thoughts: "Very athletic and good one-on-one defender. Alex is a standout CB at the ECNL level and was named the top 11 player for his ECNL region and also top 11 for the country as an ECNL All-American. He is an excellent covering defender and is also very good in the air. He has not even scratched the surface on the player he could become." – Coach Marinatos

Bio: Played four years with club team, Tampa Bay United…scored 10 goals and dished out 12 assists in U17 MLS Next Season (2020-2021)…made playoffs of inaugural U17 MLS Next Cup and won first-ever U17 USL Academy Cup…represented Florida in inaugural 2018 International Champions Cup Futures Tournament…earned AP Scholar award and is ranked top five of HS graduating class…chose UNF because "of the commitment that the coaching staff displayed towards creating an environment of hard work, discipline, and growth both on and off the field. I saw that UNF is a great school for both academics and soccer, and it is something that I wanted to be a part of!"

Bio: Played over nine years with club team, Atlanta Fire United…scored four goals and two assists since starting ECNL…started at center back for U15 Boys ECNL season and was part of the Elite National Premier League postseason run in Boston, Mass…awarded U16 Southeast All-Conference Team and U19 First-Team All-Conference for ECNL…played 46 games through three seasons with high school team…scored two goals and had three assists this past season…selected to Gwinnett Daily Post Super Six and to All-Region & County teams…was also Region Defender of the Year this past season.

Bio: Plays for GSA ECNL in Atlanta and made ECNL playoffs…named ECNL Southeast first-team All-Conference…four-year varsity starter…scored 26 goals over past three years in HS…won MVP, All-Region, and All-State in 9th and 11th grade…father, Keion, played soccer at College of Charleston, and mother, Brittany, played softball at College of Charleston.
Coach's Thoughts: "Physically mature, very athletic box to box midfielder. Very smooth on the ball technically and covers ground in the midfield. Jaylen has the potential to bolster our midfield with his skillset and athleticism. He is another top 11 all-region ECNL midfielder." – Coach Marinatos
