Senior | Defender | Jacksonville, Fla.
- First career ASUN Defensive Player of the Week award; 17th all-time honor for the Ospreys.
- Helped North Florida's defensive line hold Lipscomb scoreless, who was the highest scoring offense in the conference and a top-15 scoring offense in the nation before Saturday's match.
- Limited the Bison to only two shots on goal and played all 90 minutes in 2-0 victory.
- Assisted on the game-winning header to junior Bendeguz Burka in the 49th minute of the game; his second assist of the season.
- It's the sixth time in nine games this season he's helped the Ospreys hold opponents to one goal or less through regulation.
"Gio is a grad student that has really turned it on this season with a real commitment that started in the offseason," head coach Derek Marinatos said about Abreu's work ethic this year. "He is playing every game like it's his last and giving everything he has on a daily basis for our program."
Abreu and the Ospreys return to the pitch on the road this Saturday night for an ASUN match against Stetson at 7 pm.
