JACKSONVILLE - This weekend's series at UNF Arena between North Florida and North Alabama pits two of the ASUN's top ranked squads against each other. Friday's matchup is slated for a 7 p.m. start while Saturday's clash tips at 5 p.m.

1. REWIND
The Ospreys are coming off a weekend sweep of a two-game set versus Kennesaw State last weekend at UNF Arena | North Florida rallied from a slow start in game one to post a 69-54 victory paced by a double-double (16 pts/10 rebs) from Carter Hendricksen and a game high 17 points for Jose Placer | In game two, UNF never trailed and led by as many as 22 points before the Owls roared back and pulled within one before a pair of Hendricksen FTs secured the 68-65 decision | Placer again led the way for the Ospreys finishing with 15 points followed closely by Hendricksen with 13

2. #BIRDSofTREY
With 391 3PM last season, UNF led the nation from beyond the arc for the second time in program history (2016 was the other season) | The Ospreys posted double digit 3PM in 13 games and averaged a nation's best 11.8 threes per game | This season, North Florida owns double digit 3PM outputs in 10 contests including a season high 15 versus FAU and Edward Waters and currently ranks 10th in the NCAA with 10.1 3PM/g | All 13 players that have played this season have attempted a trey with 11 different players making one

3. GETTING NOTICED
Redshirt sophomore Jose Placer was named the ASUN Newcomer of the Week on Monday after guiding the Ospreys to a pair of home wins | Placer was the team's top scorer in both contests and finished the week averaging 16.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steal per outing while shooting 63.6 percent (14-of-22) from the field | UNA's Mervin James was tabbed the ASUN Player of the Week on Monday

4. PRESEASON PICKING
The league's coach's poll and media poll both tabbed the Ospreys to finish 4th in the conference | North Florida junior Carter Hendricksen was a unanimous choice for preseason All-Conference after finishing his sophomore campaign ranked amond the league leaders in scoring and rebounding

5. FLASHBACK
The last time the Ospreys and Lions met on the hardwood (2/15/20), North Florida opened and closed the first half with 10-2 runs en route to a wire-to-wire 80-67 victory over North Alabama in UNF Arena |  Garrett Sams scored a season-best 25 points to lead the Ospreys | Sams also matched his season high with eight rebounds | Wajid Aminu narrowly missed a double-double finishing with 15 points and 9 rebounds to go along with his five blocked shots | North Alabama saw a pair of players in double digits led by 23 points and 10 boards for Mervin James | North Florida shot 51.8% from the floor in the game while holding UNA to 38.6% | Ospreys tallied twice as many three-pointers as the Lions, 10-5

SCOUTING NORTH ALABAMA
- North Alabama is 9-3 overall and leads the ASUN at 5-1 heading into this weekend's play
- The Lions have won 5 straight and 7 of their last 8 | UNA has faced Stetson, Kennesaw State and Jacksonville in ASUN competition
- Two of UNA's five ASUN wins have come in OT
- Mervin James leads at trio of double-digit scorers averaging 14.6 PPG to go along with 7.7 RPG | Jamari Blackmon averages 11.5 PPG while Emanuel Littles tops the ASUN at 10.1 RPG 
- Head coach Tony Pujol is 32-42 in his third season at the helm of the Lions program

UP NEXT
The Ospreys are currently scheduled to travel to Lynchburg, Va., to play a pair of games at Liberty on Feb. 5-6, but the final schedule will be announced by the ASUN office early next week.
