Team Attack Leads Ospreys to ASUN Opening Win

JACKSONVILLEÂ - With four players in double figures, North Florida women's basketball opened up ASUN play with a 90-73 victory against Stetson on Saturday afternoon.
North Florida used a 10-2 run in the second quarter to give the Ospreys their biggest lead at that point and they never looked back.

- Stetson scored the first bucket of the game, but from there the Ospreys took control of the game. UNF used a 9-1 run to lead 14-6 and cause a Hatter timeout.Â
- North Florida went on to allow just five points for the last five minutes as it lead 22-11 after one.
- The visitors pulled to within eight on a pair of threes, however the Ospreys went on a 10-2 run to take its biggest advantage of the game at 35-19. Stetson outscored North Florida down the stretch, but the hosts owned a 42-30 edge at the break. The 42 first-half points were a season-high for UNF.
- Stetson went on a 10-4 run to pull within 49-40 before the Ospreys went on a 9-2 stretch to lead 58-42 and eventually pushed their lead to 65-47. The Hatters hit three free throws to make it 65-50 after three.
- Despite being held to North Florida to just two field goals in the final 2:05, the Ospreys kept their distance. Stetson pulled to within 12, twice in the final frame and each time UNF answered to thwart the attempt.

- It is the first time since 2012 that North Florida won an ASUN opener.
- The 90 points are the second most against a conference opponent. UNF scored 91 against former ASUN member, USC Upstate, in 2011.
- UNF scored 20 or more points in every quarter of the game.
- The Ospreys owned a 37-29 advantage off the glass and a 17-14 edge in second chance points.
- North Florida hit a season-high 34 field goals and shot 56.7 percent from the floor which was the best against Division I opponent.Â
- Lead by six helpers from Moore and five from Evans, UNF dished out a season-best 23 assists. Of the nine players that saw time, seven had at least one dish.
- Mackins began the game going 5-for-5 from the field including 3-for-3 from long range.
