Men's Golf Reloads in 2019-20

JACKSONVILLE - The COVID-19 pandemic shortened the 2019-20 season for men's golf but before it ended things appeared that the Ospreys had reloaded and were continuing the success that has been a program trademark for over a decade.

Despite losing several successful and veteran golfers following the Spring of 2019, head coach Scott Schroeder, in his 14th season at the helm for UNF, had agained positioned his team for another NCAA Regional appearance featuring a lineup with a handful of first-year players.

In the fall, North Florida collected the program's 56th all-time tournament crown (29th in the D-I era) with a victory at the Graeme McDowell Invitational played at Greystone CC in Birmingham, Ala.

The Ospreys also finished the season ranked No. 37 in the final Golfstat rankings, one of just two ASUN squads listed in the Top 50 nationally.

NOTE: North Florida had a pair of seniors on the roster (Michael Mattiace and Nick Infanti) who are both planning to return for their "super" senior season following a decision made by the NCAA. Due to this decision, UNF men's golf will not be posting a virtual "Senior Day" tribute later this month

• Posted Top 5 finishes in 4 of 8 tournaments played
• Claimed team tournament title at Graeme McDowell Invitational | 56th all-time title & 29th in D1 era
• Carded a 287.67 season stroke average | 4th lowest in program history
• Shot a 54-hole total of 831 at Quail Valley Intercollegiate | 3rd lowest team total in program history

Individual Highlights

• Four players made their debuts for the Ospreys this season with a pair of players earning their first collegiate experiece
• Sophomore Cody Carroll carded a career low 65 (7-under) at Quail Valley | Score ranked T9th lowest round in program history
• Freshman Davis Lee collected an all-time Top 10 tournament total after posing an 11-under 205 at Quail Valley
• North Florida's top six players had stroke averages separated by 1.5 shots including four players with averages under 73
• Senior Michael Mattiace climbed onto UNF's Top 20 rankings in several categories: 16 Career Top 25s (18th) | 29 rounds under par (T12th) | 16 rounds in the 60s (T7th)
