JACKSONVILLE - North Florida swimming looks to have its hard work pay off as it travels to Knoxville to take part in the CCSA Championships beginning Wednesday. Each day begins at 10 a.m. with the preliminary swims followed by a 6 p.m. final swim.Â
1. WHERE WE RANK IN THE CCSA
- Camryn Greenleaf posted the seventh best time in the CCSA at the TYR Invite in the 50 Free. She also has the ninth best time in the 100 free and eight best in the 200 free.
- Senior Jacqueline Barklund ranks seventh in the 100 back and ninth in the 200 back with both times set at the Liberty Invite.
- In the breast stroke, Julianna Graf ranks sixth in the 200Â and eight in the 100.
- The 200 Free Relay squad of Greenleaf, Zoe Trenz, Graf and Barklund is fourth in the conference after setting a time of 1:35.26 at the Liberty Invite.
2. COFFEY TALK
"This is what we worked for all season. Time to perform. Everything starts on Wednesday night and I am really looking forward to a lot of fast swimming from our teams. Obviously we want to set school records, but we also want to break the number of night swims we had a season ago."
3. CCSA HISTORY
- The 2020 edition marks the 12th championship.
- FGCUÂ has won the championship nine times since 2009, but Liberty is the reigning champion.
- The CCSA is a conference within the NCAA Division I athletics that supports swimming and diving and beach volleyball.
- Campbell, Georgia Southern, Howard, FGCU, UIW, Liberty, UNCA
- UNF has already faced FGCU, Campbell, Georgia Southern,Liberty, and UNC Asheville back during the 2019 portion of the 2019-20 season.
4. Making a Splash
- The Ospreys are coming off a seventh-place finish at the championships last season.
- UNF has competed at the CCSA Championships since 2008 and placed in eighth place in nine of the championships. At the 2010, UNF had its best finish in fourth with 12 teams competing.
- Last season, the Ospreys had 44 night swims.
