COACH JEFF PIGG REMARKS
"Noah (Perkins) and Nathan (Jubran) both had strong performances again today in the 5000m. They prepare well and have such a passion to compete. They ran 25 laps Friday and then couldn't wait to toe the line again for 12 and a half more. They competed very well. Noah is ready for the Regional meet and Nathan capped off a tremendous freshman year. Freshman Jared Vazquez just executed a perfect race in the 1500m. He has worked very hard since being injured as a true freshman. He has done everything asked of him and he really wants to be good. His talent backed by great desire yielded him a conference championship today. I'm so proud of him. He did a nice effort coming back in the 800m and then ran a 49 in the 4x4. He is a team player. Freshman Timothy Doyle also had a very good day. He was a little disappointed in his 1500m finish of fourth but he came back with a great effort in the 800m. He too is a very passionate runner and will have a lot of great days ahead. He is pretty high on the East Region list so we hope he's racing here again in two weeks. In the high jump, freshman Jaasiel Torres is jumping well, just as we hoped he would the day he signed with UNF. He is talented and takes great pride in jumping. He is focused and works very hard and that really showed up today. He's a regional qualifier and will be ready when he competes here in two weeks. Senior Bobby Harris has had a tremendous career. He embodies what we are about and is a class act. He works hard and closed out his career with a super effort here today. George Escobar posted a personal best placing third in the 400m. He is a tough competitor and placed one spot higher than he did at the Indoor Championship. He has such great character and work ethic and is a great young man. Chris Robin placed sixth, closing out his ASUN career as well. I am so proud to of had him on our team. He is a class act that we will surely miss."
